Step Four: Arrange your buckets on top. I put mine roughly an inch from the edge.

DIY: PBK Lazy Susan
I have always loved this lazy susan from Pottery Barn Kids. What I didn't love is the price. $49? Ouch! I have thought about this long and hard and I came up with THIS idea! And can you believe it? I love it even more than the PBK one!
Step Two: Paint it it with good ol' spray paint. I start at the bottom, get the edges and about an inch in so that it looks good when you flip it over. Paint the top and you should have something fabulous looking like THIS when you are done.
Step Three: Buckets, baby. You can find these cute pails everywhere. I got mine at the Dollar Spot at Target. Half off, course. The best thing about Ikea's lazy susan is that you can fit seven buckets on it!

Step Four: Arrange your buckets on top. I put mine roughly an inch from the edge.
Step Five: Lightly trace the circumference of the bottom of the bucket. After you do that, ERASE THE LINE so that only the very lightest, hard to see line is there.
Step Six: Glue that puppy down! I use E 6000 for all of my gluing needs. If you do not have this glue, you truly can't call yourself a crafter. (Ok, you can, but seriously, it is sooo worth the buy!) Anyhoo, just apply the glue along the edge the bottom of the bucket and then carefully set it down on your erased down line.
Step Four: Arrange your buckets on top. I put mine roughly an inch from the edge.

Love this idea...my hubby's mother just gave us a lazy susan that he made in high school. I told her to throw it away, I didn't want it. My girls snatched it up from her...and now I fully intend on using it to make THIS! GREAT IDEA!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea. I am thinking this would be a really nice teacher appreciation gift. It is always so hard to come up with tokens for the great teachers we have in this world.
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite part? "Eat that, PBK!" :>) Love this idea, and I linked to it on my weekly roundup. Thanks SO much!!
ReplyDeleteI am a homeschooling momma, and I need this. Thank you so much sharing. HAPPY NEW YEAR

ReplyDeletelove this! thanks for the awesome idea, going to go shopping now!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletetotally cute!
ReplyDeleteI loved this idea when I saw it on another blog. It seems to be popular in cyberspace these days. One thing I liked about the way she did it was that she glued magnets to the lazy susan and then put the metal pails on top. That way, you can change out your buckets with the seasons if you so desire ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute and neat idea!
ReplyDeleteYou're a boss!! I'll make it too! :)
ReplyDeleteHi...I'm Laura from Italy! I love your website!
ReplyDeleteThis project is very useful!

Propane Burners
Genius! I wish I would have seen this when I had my classroom! We ordered caddies from one of those school supply sites; they were expensive and didn't hardly hold anything :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love the cute buckets from Target's dollar aisle - bought me a couple also. Oh and yes every good crafter needs E-6000 glue :P
ReplyDeleteI linked up to your awesome project at Dollar store crafts today (http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2010/12/make-a-lazy-susan-supply-organizer/) and at our FB page yesterday. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your version much better than the pbk version! You should do more tutorials!
I so need to make this !!!!!!!! I love the one from PB too but the price was going to cut it but this one will.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! I have just bought all the parts and I am ready to make it. Sadly it cost me $25 (Australian) to make this as we dont get anything as cheap as you guys (ie the lazy susan at Ikea is $15 here) Cannot wait to give it to the kids no more pulling pens across the table!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI saw you featured on Dollar Store Crafts! Loved this post! I am featuring it on my blog tomorrow
http://onetiredbuthappymama.blogspot.com/
