I am room mom for both my son's this year. One is in middle school and one is in the lower elementary grades. I am trying to compile some ideas that are low stress and just plain fun so that we all can enjoy the party without too many "rules". Here are a few things I have come up with, but I think in the end I am just going to have my older son's class just "hang out" and maybe do the
pictionary game if they aren't too cool.... :)
Christmas Pictionary: I got this idea from my sister. Basically, you follow the same rules, but you use Christmas/Holiday words instead.
Don't Eat Pete: I love this game! Even though it isn't super Christmas-y, I can not get over the cuteness of these little faces!!
Sparkle Power has a free download if you want to play it, too.
Shaving Cream and Glue Snowmans+ 2
nd Graders= A Winter Wonderland Masterpiece! I saw this cute idea over at
Homemaking Fun who was inspired by a tutorial at
KrafyKid.
Candy Cane Reindeer Ornaments: Don't you remember making these as a kid? I want to make it apart of my son's memories, too. I found a tutorial over at
Thrifty Fun.
Have any other suggestions? I'd love them! :)

My oldest two girls are in 7th and 3rd grade. I've been room-mom'ing it forever, now, and can tell you that it's always crazy, and never the same. Ever tried to make popsicle stick reindeer ornaments with a crazy bunch of first graders? Not pretty. Base your decision on what kind of class your son is in. {ie, wild, mellow?} No matter what craft or game you choose, always take an "in-between" Christmas themed printout or similar to fill the prep or clean up time. My best response to date is when I loaded up a dozen board games to my oldest daughter's class party, & shoved the desks against the walls. They said I was the "coolest Mom ever!" :)For a Mom to still be cool to middle schoolers, that was a defining moment. Good luck!
I did the shaving cream/glue snowmen today as my project for Christmas around the world. All of the third graders rotated through six teachers. So in the end I did this project with 120 third graders and it was super easy...I would even do it again. THANK you for the super cute idea.
We are making snowflakes from coffee filters. Once they are cut out, we will dot on food coloring or watered down paint and it will look tie died!
THANK YOU everyone!! Thanks to your suggestions and inspirations, I survived- and we had lots of fun, too!
